PM Karki Emphasizes Good Governance, Prepares for March 2026 Elections

Patan (Lalitpur), Prime Minister Sushila Karki stated that the government is currently focused on its two primary agendas: establishing good governance and ensuring the successful conduct of upcoming elections.

Speaking at the 107th establishment day of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, the Prime Minister highlighted that the government is working tirelessly with intensive preparations for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026. This comes in the aftermath of the extraordinary situation following the September 8–9 Gen Z movement.

“We are eager to hand over executive power to a new government formed in accordance with the mandate expressed through the election. I urge all stakeholders to contribute toward ensuring that the election is free, fair, impartial, and cost-effective. Elections are the sole path to advancing democratic values and good governance within the framework of the Constitution,” said PM Karki.

The Prime Minister also stressed that anarchic activities should find no space in society. She assured that the security administration remains competent and proactive in addressing those who threaten peace and security or engage in criminal activities.

“The role of the community is equally vital in resisting nefarious forces. Let us join hands to build a nation with good governance by establishing peace in society,” she added.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan urged Gen Z groups to support the upcoming elections, while Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya acknowledged contributions from citizens of various walks of life in developing the metropolis.

During the ceremony, Rato Bangala School and Nira Rajyalaxmi Rana, the highest taxpayers in the city, were honored for their contributions.
