RSP Candidate Ashika Tamang Says She Has Not Withdrawn Her Candidacy in Dhading–1

Ashika Tamang, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate from Dhading Constituency No. 1, has clarified that she has not withdrawn her candidacy, dismissing rumors circulating on social media.

Speaking to Kantipur, Tamang said the claim of her withdrawal was false. “I have not withdrawn my candidacy. While discussions were ongoing at the Election Commission regarding my eligibility to contest the election, a fake email was sent to the Commission in my name,” she said. “I am going to the Commission to inquire about this and will file a complaint to identify who did this.”

Addressing allegations that she holds a foreign identity card due to her marriage to a German citizen, Tamang denied the claims. “I do not have any foreign identity card. I only possess a Nepali passport and Nepali citizenship,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai confirmed that, apart from Ishwar Bharti, no other candidate from Dhading–1 has withdrawn their nomination so far. According to him, 49 candidates nationwide had withdrawn their candidacies by Friday afternoon.
