Nepal Registers 3,484 Candidates for House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu — On Tuesday, 9 Magh, a total of 3,484 nominations were filed across the country for the upcoming House of Representatives election. Nominations were submitted for 165 direct seats by various political parties as well as independent candidates.

According to the Election Commission’s preliminary list, out of the total candidates, 395 are women, 3,088 are men, and one candidate falls under another category.

From political parties, 2,297 candidates registered their nominations, including 235 women and 2,064 men. Additionally, 1,187 candidates filed as independents.

Age-wise, 583 candidates are between 25–35 years, 1,610 between 36–50 years, 1,090 between 51–65 years, and 201 are above 65 years old.

A total of 68 political parties have submitted nominations nationwide. The Election Commission spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, noted that the preliminary figures may change slightly as the list is finalized.
