U.S. Army General Joel Vowell Arriving in Kathmandu Today

Joel Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific, is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu today.
According to the Nepali Army, General Vowell will travel to Nepal via Bhutan and will stay in the country for three days.
During his visit, he is expected to hold meetings with senior military officials, including Ashok Raj Sigdel, the Chief of the Nepali Army.
Vowell is also scheduled to visit the Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre located in Panchkhal, Kavrepalanchok.
Earlier, on Falgun 1, Samuel J. Paparo had also visited Nepal.
The visit of a senior U.S. military official is being viewed as diplomatically significant, especially as preparations are underway for the formation of a new government following the recent elections in Nepal.
