Acting Chief Election Commissioner Says Action Underway on Poll Code Violation Complaints

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that necessary action procedures have been initiated on complaints related to violations of the election code of conduct.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday after monitoring the ballot-printing process at the Janak Education Materials Centre press, Acting Chief Commissioner Bhandari said several complaints have been filed against candidates for breaching the code of conduct. He added that investigations into those complaints are currently underway.
Bhandari stated that candidates are in the process of submitting explanations and that the Election Commission will take necessary decisions after studying the complaints and the explanations received.
“We have strictly enforced the election code of conduct and are closely monitoring whether it is being followed. Complaints have been received against some candidates, and we have sought clarifications from them. Some have already submitted their explanations, while others are in the process of doing so. Once all explanations are received, we will make decisions based on a thorough review,” he said.
He also stressed that election preparations are progressing rapidly and urged media outlets to publish impartial content rather than favoring any side. “The election will be held on the scheduled date and time,” he added.
For the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, ballot printing for the first-past-the-post system is currently underway. According to the Election Commission, 7.26 million ballots have already been printed and packed into 5,825 ballot boxes. A total of 20.32 million ballots are required for this category.
Meanwhile, the printing of 20.83 million ballots required for the proportional representation system has been completed and the ballots are ready for transportation.
