Snowfall in Myagdi Disrupts Daily Life

On Wednesday, snowfall occurred in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality–1, Gurja and Annapurna Rural Municipality–6, Ghodepani in Myagdi, affecting daily life. Ward member Gunram Chhantyal of Gurja reported that it had been snowing continuously since early morning. Along with rain at night, around two inches of snow accumulated.
The footpath and road connecting Gurja, located at an altitude of approximately 2,700 meters above sea level, were blocked due to the snowfall. Locals had to stay indoors and keep warm by the fire. Livestock such as cows and goats were kept in sheds and fed dry grass.
Tourist sites including Ghodepani, Poonhill, Khopra, and Moharedada were also covered with snow. Hotel owner Mina Pun of Ghodepani said that tourist activity had decreased since the snowfall. The decline in visitors left Ghodepani and Poonhill almost deserted.
This is the second snowfall of the year. Rainfall across Myagdi has benefited winter crops. Farmer Bhupendra Sharma from Malika–7 said that the wet soil provided essential nutrients to the plants, improving crop growth. The rainfall has helped crops such as wheat, barley, ginger, and citrus fruits.
