CPN-UML to Finalize Candidates for February 21 Election

Kathmandu — The CPN-UML has called a meeting of the party’s central secretariat to finalize candidates for the upcoming February 21 election. According to Meen Bahadur Shahi, coordinator of the party’s Publication and Promotion Department, the meeting will be held tomorrow, Magh 3, at 1 PM at the central office.
With candidate nominations scheduled for all 165 constituencies on Magh 6, the party is preparing to finalize the list in advance. The party’s regional coordination committees, district committees, and provincial committees have already recommended candidates. About 35 leaders, including party chairman KP Sharma Oli, have been unanimously proposed.
Since no electoral alliances have been confirmed, the party will field candidates under the sun symbol in all constituencies. The secretariat meeting is also aimed at giving candidates enough time to reach their constituencies and prepare for nominations. A previous central committee meeting had assigned the secretariat the responsibility of finalizing the candidate list.
