Minister Pariyar Stresses Protection of Agricultural Land

Kathmandu : Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Madan Prasad Pariyar, has emphasized that protecting agricultural land is crucial, as food security is directly linked to national security.
In a message on the occasion of the 45th World Food Day today, Minister Pariyar highlighted the need to modernize and commercialize the agriculture sector by utilizing available land efficiently.
He stated that raising awareness among people about food security through increased production and productivity is one of the main challenges of the present time. Under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”, various events were organized under the leadership of the Ministry and in coordination with the Department of Agriculture.
Minister Pariyar added that World Food Day, observed globally on October 16 each year, is a reminder of collective efforts to tackle challenges such as malnutrition and starvation. Nepal has been observing the day since 2038 BS.
The message also noted that out of approximately 4.13 million farmer families in the country, 55 percent do not have sufficient food for a year.
